El cantante chileno de origen austriaco Peter Mociulski von Remenyk, más conocido como Peter Rock, murió la tarde de este sábado en su domicilio en Viña del Mar. El artista padecía de «escleorosis lateral amiotrófica» (ELA) desde 2014.
Peter Rock llegó con su familia a Santiago en 1955 y fue uno de los artistas más reconocidos de la «Nueva Ola».

Fue creador del grupo «Los Lyons» y denominado «el Elvis chileno» durante los inicios de su carrera en 1959, con el disco «A date with Elvis».
Su primer éxito en Chile fue con el cover de «Such a night».
En 1965 inició una gira por Europa, y en 1979 regresó a Chile donde participó en el programa «Jappening con ja».
Posteriormente se presentó en el Festival de Viña del Mar.
A fines de 2004 lanzó un álbum de covers de rock and roll clásico llamado: «Rock ‘n’roll is alive».
El año pasado hubo un concierto a beneficio realizado en la Quinta Vergara donde participaron gran parte de sus amigos. El artista padecía de «escleorosis lateral amiotrófica» (ELA) desde 2014.
En 2015 tuvo varios momentos complicados de salud producto de su enfermedad que lo mantenía postrado sin poder realizar movimientos.
Sus cercanos aseguran que a pesar de su enfermedad Peter Rock vivió sus últimos días optimista.
“(Voy a) enfrentar la muerte dignamente. Además, solo mi cuerpo deja de existir. Como pasó con Jorge Pedreros, voy a morir el día que me olviden”, señaló el artista en 2014, consultado por su enfermedad.
Peter Rock había pedido morir en su casa, según información entregada por su hija.
Sus restos serán velados en Viña del Mar y se espera la confirmación del lugar dónde será sepultado.
