Las polémicas respecto del uso de la figura del expresidente Salvador Allende comenzaron cuando el alcalde de Recoleta y candidato presidencial comunista, Daniel Jadue, hizo un llamado a la militancia socialista a apoyar su candidatura para continuar con el legado del presidente derrocado.
No obstante, luego de la decisión del PS de no adherir a las primarias junto con el Partido Comunista y el Frente Amplio, el nombre de Allende volvió a relucir, puesto que desde la cúpula dirigencial de dicho partido, se afirmó que el pacto significaba una humillación para la colectividad.
Esta postura fue expresada durante la semana pasada tanto por la candidata del partido, Paula Narváez, como por su presidente, Álvaro Elizalde, posterior a una decisión que ha generado una disputa que, según el médico y nieto de Salvador Allende, Pablo Sepúlveda, definirá el futuro del PS: si afinca sus relaciones con la centro izquierda o si vuelve a sus orígenes.
Para Sepúlveda, en los últimos 30 años el partido de su abuelo no ha significado una verdadera alternativa al modelo neoliberal y, por el contrario, ha pactado con partidos defensores del actual modelo y hasta se desmarcó de causas históricas, como las de ex diputado desaparecido por la Dictadura, Carlos Lorca.
Frente a esto, el también excandidato constituyente afirmó:
“La humillación a la figura de Allende viene de la directiva del Partido Socialista por todos estos actos. Creo que la han utilizado, manoseado y tergiversado. No han asumido en estos 30 años el legado de Salvador Allende de transformación, de superación de una sociedad injusta, capitalista y neoliberal; al contrario, la han profundizado, y creo que esa ha sido la gran humillación y traición al legado político, ideológico, ético, de Salvador Allende”.
Asimismo, Sepúlveda también hizo un balance respecto de los resultados de las elecciones constituyentes, en donde afirmó que el Partido Socialista debiera entender la señal que le ha enviado el pueblo y que está relacionada con abandonar el pacto que generó la llamada Lista del Apruebo:
“Si uno ve los resultados de las elecciones, dentro de la Lista del Apruebo el Partido Socialista fue el único que más o menos salió bien parado. La DC sacó 2, el PPD 3, y el partido socialista 15, una cifra parecida a RN y UDI. Yo creo que ésa fue una especie de oportunidad que le dio el pueblo de que no están desahuciados. Es una señal de que todavía hay una identificación popular con el PS por la figura de Allende, una señal que dice sálganse de ahí y váyanse con la lista de partidos que sacó mucha más votación, que es la de Apruebo Dignidad”.
Respecto del escenario electoral para las primarias presidenciales, Sepúlveda dijo estar convencido de que ninguna de las candidaturas que ha levantado el PS y la ex Concertación tiene posibilidades de avanzar. Es más, para el nieto de Salvador Allende, la única diferencia de este sector, denominado centro izquierda, con la derecha, está en los derechos sociales, más no en el cambio del modelo económico.
Por tal motivo, Sepúlveda aprovechó para valorar la candidatura del alcalde de Recoleta, Daniel Jadue, e instó al PS a sumar su apoyo a dicha campaña:
“El Partido Socialista tiene que volver hacia sus orígenes, a estar de lado del pueblo y de la clase trabajadora. No lo han estado en los últimos 30 años. Ojalá volvieran a sus alianzas con el PC, con los movimientos sociales, los sectores populares, con las y los trabajadores. Creo que la señal a nivel a internacional es que Chile está girando nuevamente hacia la izquierda, tanto así que hay una posibilidad real de que sea electo un presidente que viene de la militancia comunista, cosa que no es nada común, en Occidente por lo menos”.
Finalmente, el médico recordó que Chile tiene el antecedente de ser el primer país del mundo que eligió a un presidente socialista, además de una tradición histórica de ser un país de izquierda:
“El arte y la cultura de Chile lo dicen, nuestros grandes referentes son gente de izquierda. Entonces, este lapsus neoliberal creo que ya está llegando a su fin y ojalá el Partido Socialista se ponga a la altura histórica del momento”.
