In Memorian Gastón Soublette: El Sabio Invisible que nos Enseñó a Escuchar

Hay hombres que pasan por la vida dejando huella sin hacer ruido. Gastón Soublette, con su andar pausado, su hablar sereno y su mirada cargada de siglos, era uno de ellos.

Musicólogo, filósofo, esteta, ensayista, ecologista, cristiano zen, mapuche de alma y chileno universal, Soublette es —fue y sigue siendo— mucho más que un intelectual: es un sabio.

Nació en 1927, y desde entonces caminó con lucidez por casi un siglo de historia. Supo ver, antes que muchos, que el mundo moderno se estaba desfondando.

No lo gritó: lo susurró en clases, libros y conversaciones, como un maestro taoísta en medio del estruendo neoliberal.

En las aulas de la Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, donde enseñó por décadas, formó generaciones sin imponer cátedra. Más que enseñar, despertaba.

Tuvo la erudición para hablar de Bach, el Canto Gregoriano, la poesía china, el gnosticismo, el folclor chileno o la mística mapuche, sin jerarquías ni fronteras.

Y tuvo el coraje de decir, en tiempos de consumo desaforado, que la belleza está en la vida simple, en lo sagrado de lo cotidiano.

Para él, la cultura no era un adorno ni un archivo muerto, sino una resistencia espiritual al sinsentido contemporáneo.

Era un hombre de paradojas fértiles: cristiano sin iglesia, oriental sin haber pisado China, patriota sin bandera, urbano y silvestre, estudioso y contemplativo.

Se rodeaba de gatos, árboles y jóvenes curiosos. Su hogar era su templo. Su voz, su instrumento. Su sabiduría, una medicina.

Fue, también, un defensor apasionado del medioambiente, cuando pocos lo eran. Denunció el desastre ecológico sin odio, pero con firmeza. S

u crítica al modelo extractivista fue clara y profunda: no desde la ideología, sino desde la ética y el amor por la tierra.

Lo hizo desde la raíz: “El sistema está enfermo porque ha olvidado el alma”, solía decir.

Gastón Soublette no buscó fama ni poder. Se mantuvo al margen del espectáculo, del mercado, del bullicio. Por eso es tan necesario.

En una época donde la velocidad asfixia y el algoritmo decide, su palabra invita al silencio fértil, a la contemplación, al diálogo interior.

Hoy, cuando nos abandona después de fructíferos 98 años, su figura adquiere el espesor de los grandes ancianos de la humanidad.

Como un abuelo sabio que cuida el fuego mientras el mundo se incendia,

Gastón sigue enseñando, aunque no dé clases.

Su sola existencia fue una lección: la vida es más honda que la productividad; la cultura, más vital que el dinero; el espíritu, más real que la apariencia.

Quienes lo escuchamos alguna vez, aunque haya sido solo en un video, en un libro, en una entrevista, ya no somos los mismos.

Porque Soublette no sólo habla: convoca al alma.

Y en un mundo que la ha olvidado, eso es un milagro.
