El Paco-Ladrón...¿Es lo Mismo que Carabinero Ladrón?

Carabineros de Chile tiene una web de carácter oficial llamada museodecarabineros.cl, dónde se encuentra una extensa investigación acerca del origen del término y apodo «paco», apelativo con que se conoce y denomina popularmente a los funcionarios policiales en nuestro país.

Este hecho se contrapone diametralmente a la actitud del General y además Director de Control de Drogas e Investigación Criminal de la institución ya mencionada, general Alex Chavan quién vetó y expulsó a la periodista Paulina de Allende Salazar de un punto de prensa, por referirse a «uno de nuestros mártires cómo Paco», citando al asesinado cabo Daniel Palma, mientras desarrollaba funciones propias de su oficio.

Mega recogió el guante, le soltó la mano a su periodista y la despidió por un error involuntario del que ella se disculpó a pocos minutos de haberlo cometido. No fue suficiente.

Lo que no sorprende es el doble estándar de un medio que se refiere a las fechorías económicas -con dinero de todos los chilenos- perpetrados por funcionarios de Carabineros cómo «pacogate», versus el bullicioso, pirotécnico y estridente despido de la «terrorista del micrófono» que tuvo un desafortunado lapsus en el que llamó paco a un paco…..o Carabinero.

Tampoco sorprende el silencio cómplice de sus compañeros (as) de profesión al momento de la reacción destemplada y altanera del funcionario Chavan quién uso los medios para ningunearlos y ponerles condiciones a pesar de la cobertura en cadena nacional a la muerte y funeral de un funcionario bajo el mandato del poder civil, abatido cumpliendo sus funciones.

A los militares les decimos milicos y no hay vuelta atrás, a los funcionarios (as) de Investigaciones tiras o con un poquito de misterio «ratis» y en términos rigurosos, en una reunión de amigos (as) aquel que llame Carabinero a un funcionario policial, es corregido ludicamente e instado a «llamar las cosas por su nombre»……dile paco, estamos en confianza.

En la tele le dicen Merluzo al Merluzo, Monga a la Monga, Pinocho a Pinocho y así suma y sigue. Pero llegó la hora de rasgar vestiduras. Y a la Tonka no la echan y a la Paty Maldonado y su corvo en el cuello tampoco, a Mauricio Israel, menos

y a Pinilla tampoco. Al Chino Ríos lo transmiten en vivo y trapea con ellos y a Paulina De Allende Salazar no se la recuerda tanto por su burdo montaje periodístico del «Incendio Intencional de la Torre Enel», al inicio de la revuelta social. No por nada recaló en Mega, después de su salida de TVN. No podía ser de otra manera.

De hecho, no es que la periodista en cuestión sea una estampita, pero no podemos negar que lo ocurrido con ella, en los funerales del cabo Palma, representa un antecedente complejo, un precedente peligroso.

Es que estamos ante la imposición de una mordaza y la crucifixión de una profesional que se equivoca y se excusa casi al mismo tiempo y con absoluta celeridad, además en forma nitidamente pública.

Estamos ante un atentado contra la libertad de expresión, ante censura pura y dura que tiene cómo contraparte una televisión genuflexa, cínica, poco solidaria, indolente, doblegada, sumisa.

En plena democracia, una imagen de la dictadura más siniestra. Un flashback. Un carabinero vetando a un medio y rayando la cancha sin piedad ni oposición, ante una prensa temerosa, zigzagueante, subalterna.

A Bam Bam Zamorano, la prensa chilena casi lo quema vivo por el veto post Cúcuta en tiempos de Nelson Acosta, que -a todo esto- siempre fue el Pelao Acosta y sin tanto barullo.
Ante Chavan, el General de Carabineros que los pautea a su antojo, obedecen y desfilan.

No mezclemos las cosas, por un lado está el hecho delictual que hay que cubrir y que es parte del oficio del periodista y por otro, el Carabinero que se pasa de la raya, que se toma atribuciones que no tienen nada que ver con su investidura y la confusión de roles y ubicaciones dentro del arco de la cosa cotidiana.

Una cosa son los cuarteles y comisarías, lugares en las que las jerarquías operan y pesan entre pares, otra muy distinta los medios de comunicación, con civiles a cargo y contribuyentes desarrollando un oficio en el que las fuerzas armadas y de orden no debieran tener injerencia alguna.

Carabineros está bajo el mandato del poder civil, sin embargo y a poco andar, ya tuvimos a una periodista sufriendo los embates de la tan temida metáfora del «Gatillo Fácil», con un funcionario policial pauteando y decidiendo por la televisión abierta en su conjunto e incluso con cabezas rodando.
